After three years of intense tasks and synergy between companies of the Techint Organization, the new facilities became officially operational on May 17, 2011.
The inauguration was performed with the presence of Mexican President, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa; Economy Secretary, Bruno Ferrari; Governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte de Ochoa; and Chairman of the Techint Organization, Paolo Rocca.
"Today is a great day. "To see the world's largest seamless tubes manufacturing facility working in Mexico gives me great pride as a Mexican citizen and great satisfaction", said President Calderón
The project was announced in 2008 by Paolo Rocca, during his visit to President Calderón, and it included the rolling mill besides screw lines, termination and thermal treatment. The new plant, that was built in record time and according to the budget, will give Tenaris the possibility of widening its range of products. The annual production capacity will be 450,000 tons of 2 3/8" up to 7" steel seamless pipes.
Chief Operating Officer of Techint Engineering and Construction, Daniel Fernández; Director of Techint in México, Gustavo Gallino; Commercial Director of Techint in México, Pedro López; and Project Manager, Víctor Ortelli also attended to the inauguration.
